President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated his Special Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, as a National Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Lauretta Onochie is expected to represent Delta State upon screening and confirmation by the Senate.
The Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan read the letter from President Buhari forwarding the name of Onochie alongside three other National Commissioners on Tuesday at the start of plenary.
Also nominated for confirmation as National Commissioners of INEC are: Prof. Mohammed Sani representing Katsina; Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti) and Seidu Ahmed (Jigawa)
Buhari said the nomination was pursuant to Paragraph 14 of part 1F of the First Schedule of the 1999 Constitution.
