The Lagos State Citizens’ Mediation Centre (CMC), in the month of September 2020, successfully resolved 801 cases spanning a wide range of issues such as landlord/tenancy, land disputes and monetary claims, among others.
In the report released by the Director, CMC, Mrs Abiola Oseni, the total number of cases received during the period stood at 1,277 out of which 801 cases were successfully resolved, while 174 cases were referred to appropriate agencies of government; 162 cases were terminated due to non-attendance at mediation sessions by parties involved, while 140 cases are currently adjourned for further mediation.
The report further showed that the CMC was able to recover, on behalf of its clients, debt settlement with a total value of N5,390,000.
According to Mrs. Oseni, the monthly report of September 2020 affirmed that CMC has been consistent in its mandate of promoting peaceful resolution of disputes among Citizens and residents of Lagos State.
She, therefore, urged members of the public to fully embrace mediation as a credible platform for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
The Centre had in its report for the month of August 2020 announced recovering about N9.5million from indebted parties on behalf of its clients, while it resolved 723 cases.
