The magnitude of the show cannot be over-emphasized as the Nigerian Idol host; IK Osakioduwa revealed that the top 8 contestants of the Bigi Nigerian Idol received a groundbreaking record of 20 million votes.
Despite the record-breaking votes from fans and music lovers across the country, the Bigi Nigerian Idol journey ended for Debby as she received the least votes; halting her most impressive run in the show, and creating a very competitive week for the top 7 contestants in the well-liked musical talent platform, with Ice Prince as a guest judge and Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy as dance instructor.
It was exhilarating as the top contestants performed their renditions with professional dancers on the live stage. David Oprah opens the floor with his rendition of Burna Boy’s ‘Wonderful’. Banty continued her impressive run in the Bigi Nigerian Idol with an astonishing performance of Burno Mars ‘Finesse’, leaving the judges amazed throughout her performance.
Zadok’s rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I want to Dance with You’ was outstanding, and its highlight was the synergy between the vocal assignment and his dance moves, thus proving that he is not just a singer but a true performer.
Progress won the night with the song ‘Bang Bang’, by Ariana Grande, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj, which Simi applauded as a fantastic performance. He thrilled marvelously and the judges expressed their feelings with a standing ovation and uproar of excitement from his fans.
Jordan’s performance of ‘Titanium’ by David Guetta feat Sia was amazing such that the duo judges of Simi and Obi Asika spoke glowingly about vocals and how well his talent has developed. Faith broke the ice with her rendition of Tiwa Savage’s ‘Koroba’, which had everyone, including the judges, spellbound and wondering whether Tiwa Savage herself groomed her for the show, an impressive appearance that kept Simi astonished with, especially with the quality of her tone.
Consequently, 17-year-old Itohan delivered a mind-blowing gig of Rihanna’s ‘Only Girl (In the World)’. Her performance, particularly her sonorous voice, wowed the judges and fans in the show which will see the winner clinching N100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Naira) worth of prizes, including a recording deal from a label, a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle [SUV], cash prizes, and other exciting gifts.
