The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been directed to free former Aide-De-Camp to ex-President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Ojogbane Adegbe, who has been in the custody of the anti-graft agency for some days now, precisely since February 11.
An FCT High Court in Abuja ordered the EFCC on Tuesday to release Adegbe after he challenged his continuous detention at the EFCC’s cell.
In his ruling on Tuesday, Justice Yusuf Halilu told the agency to release the former ADC on bail on liberal terms pending his arraignment in court for any offence.
Adegbe is being investigated by the anti-money laundering body for allegedly collecting N10 billion from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, during his boss’ tenure.
It was alleged that the money was diverted by ONSA from a Signature Bonus Account in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It is believed that the amount was diverted from oil receipts as follows: USD5.0M (November 14,2014); $47m ( November 27, 2014); Euro 4.0M (December 3, 2014) and Euro 1.6M (December 24, 2014).
