Some lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have removed their Speaker and her deputy from office.
The Assembly Speaker, Jumoke Akindele and her deputy, Fatai Olotu were reportedly impeached by 18 members on Tuesday night.
It was gathered that the lawmakers met at about 10pm on Tuesday and signed the notice of impeachment of the Speaker.
They also immediately elected new occupiers of the two posts.
The newly elected Speaker is Iroju Ogundeji from Odigbo local government, while Ayo Arowele from Owoh local government was elected as the Deputy Speaker.
No reason was given for the action.
