The National Assembly says details of the 2016 budget it recently passed would be ready in the next two weeks.
This followed a disclosure by the Presidency that President Muhammadu Buhari has failed to assent the budget because he was waiting for the main document passed by the National Assembly.
The Presidency said it must go through what the NASS passed and see to the additions and subtraction made because it can be passed into law.
It said it would not sign the summary of the budget the National Assembly sent to the Presidency.
This means Nigerians will have to wait a little longer for the 2016 budget, worth N.607 trillion, to be assented to by the President.
NASS explained that there is nothing unusual in its sending the summary of the budget to the Executive for Presidential assent.
Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jubrin, said the National Assembly is in order by sending the summary of the budget to the President for assent.
The 2015 budget, currently in operation will lapse today, Thursday, March 31, 2016.
However, the President is statutorily empowered to vote funds for smooth working of government operations pending the time the budget is finally signed into law.
