The suspension of Sylva was announced on Saturday by the state executive of APC in Bayelsa State via a statement.

In a press release signed by the state chairman of APC, Timipa Tiwei Orunimighe, and the secretary, Daniel Marlin, it was disclosed that Sylva tried to sideline the leadership of the party and get federal appointments due to the state for only his cronies.

Because of this alleged act, Orunimighe said they also want the “Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Heineken Lokpobiri, to resign his appointment.”

According to him, Lokpobiri “paid for his ministerial position. I also believe, and those of us standing here know very well, that he is not a member of the party.”
