Court Sacks Amaju Pinnick As NFF President

Amaju Pinnick

Amaju Pinnick has been removed by a court judgment as president of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF.

A ruling by a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State, on Friday, April 8, 2016, nullified the elections that brought Pinnick as president as well as other board members of the Federation.

The ruling came following a case instituted at the court by Chris Giwa, challenging the election of Pinnick as NFF boss.

Giwa claimed that the September 2014 election which brought Pinnick into office was faulty. His case was ruled out by FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sports, but he took the matter to court.

The court directed the Federal Government of Nigeria to recognise Giwa as the authentic president of the NFF.

It would be recalled that on January 20, 2016, at a peace meeting called by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, both Giwa and Pinnick almost turned venue of the meeting, the National Stadium, into a boxing ring.

This forced the meeting to end in deadlock.
