Abdulkadir Kure

Former governor of Niger State, Abdulkadir Kure, has been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Kure was picked by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday for allegedly receiving a N600m contract from a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.

Punch said an impeccable source disclosed to it that Kure has since been undergoing ‘intense interrogation.’

“Kure has been in our custody since Wednesday. His company was among those indicted by the committee set up to probe the contracts awarded at the ONSA.

“He received N600m from the ONSA but we have reason to believe that the procedure through which the contract was approved was not transparent and we have asked him to explain how the money was spent but he has yet to do that,” Punch claimed the source said.

It was gathered that the former governor’s company was among the 300 firms indicted by a committee set up by the presidency to look into contracts awarded under the leadership of Dasuki.

All attempts by the newspaper to speak with the spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, proved abortive as his telephone indicated that it was switched off.
