BREAKING: Senate Drops Amendment Of CCB, CCT Act

News reaching us now confirms that the Nigerian Senate have finally bowed to pressure and has suspended debate on the amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, and the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.

The lawmakers took the decision on Wednesday after a closed door session, which lasted about two hours.

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who announced this after the secret meeting with his colleagues, also said that the Senate will stand by its President, Bukola Saraki, who is presently standing trial before the Justice Danladi Umar-led CCT.

Members of the upper chamber of the National Assembly recently kicked off debate on the bill seeking the amendment of the law establishing the CCB and CCT.

This was greeted with criticism from Nigerians, who were not happy with the timing.
