According to Tribune, Nigerian troops invaded Government Tompolo, a former militant leader’s community in Gbaramatu, Delta State on Saturday in search of the new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers.
Gbaramatu Kingdom is located in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State,
The invasion of Tompolo’s terrain was said to have occurred in the early hours of Saturday, precisely around 2am.
It was almost the same time the group carried out attacks on pipelines belonging to Agip and Shell in Nembe, Bayelsa State.
It was reported that the Nigerian soldiers stormed Gbaramatu kingdom in search of members of the group, but allegedly started beating up everyone including women children and students in sight.
This has reportedly forced many in the community to seek refuge in nearby communities.
The Niger Delta Avengers group has claimed responsibility for renewed attack on oil installations in the region, which has caused drop in Nigeria’S crude oil production.
