EFCC To Drill Sheriff Over Campaign Funds

Controversial National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to explain his role in the interaction on the N450 million allocated to Borno State from the N23.29 billion campaign funds allegedly facilitated by ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.

It was alleged that the former Borno State governor received about N40 million from the cash allocated to the state. The N40 million was allegedly given to “Mohammed Kumalia for onward transmission to Sheriff.”

Sheriff was asked to report at the Maiduguri office of the commission on Wednesday (today).

It was reported that Sheriff is expected to explain if he received such amount or not.

According to reports, former Minister of Power, Mohammed Wakil, who was the PDP campaign coordinator for Borno State,” when grilled by the EFCC on June 6, allegedly admitted the receipt of the N450 million.
