A former Niger Delta militant leader named Aboy Francis Muturu, has been apprehended by Nigerian military. The suspect was arrested last Friday at his residence in Bomadi Town of Delta state
The latest development is coming after the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, said the Federal Government was dialoguing with the Niger Delta militants, some of who have renewed attacks on oil installations in the region.
Meanwhile, Muturu’s lawyer, Omes Ogedegbe, has threatened a legal action against the army if they fail to release his client in the next 48 hours
It was gathered that Muturu was nabbed by soldiers suspected to be from the 4th Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Benin City, Edo State.
The suspect, fondly called General Aboy, was reportedly arrested in the presence of his breastfeeding wife, Beauty, in the early hours of Friday last week.
Muturu was said to have been among those who voluntarily embraced the amnesty programme initiated by the late President Musa Yar’Adua.
