According to reports reaching us, some Assistant Inspector General, AIGs, of Police are having an emergency meeting with Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, Mike Okiro.
It was said that the closed-door meeting with the former Inspector General of Police, IGP, was conveyed following an alleged letter written to President Muhammadu Buhari last Friday by the Acting IGP, Ibrahim Idris, to retire 30 AIGs.
It was gathered that the affected AIGs are senior in rank to the new IGP, who was promoted to the rank of AIG not too long ago, before his appointment last week by Buhari as IGP.
According ThisDay, which reported the alleged impending sack, Idris wants the 30 AIGs to be retired.
This, we learnt, has caused tension in the Force.
Okiro, as we gathered, is having a meeting with the AIGs on how to resolve the issues. The meeting is said to be taking place at Transcorp Hilton Abuja Hotel.
