BREAKING: Court Sacks Okezie Ikpeazu As Abia Gov

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has been ordered by the court to vacate office with immediate effect.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja gave the directive on Monday, June 27, 2017.

Ikpeazu was sacked from office by the court for submitting false information to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, for the party’s governorship primary in December 2014.

Justice Okon Abang, in his judgment on Monday, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately issue a certificate of return to Uche Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the party’s governorship primary.

Ogah had filed a suit against Ikpeazu, seeking to sack the governor for alleged forgery.
