A manager of FCMB in Lagos identified as Olisa Nwakoby, has allegedly killed himself after his company pressured him to recover a loan he approved for a customer sometimes ago.
It was gathered that the deceased approved a loan of N350 million, but the customer has failed to service the loan, which management of FCMB was reportedly not happy about and mounted pressure on him to recover it.
According to New Telegraph, Nwakoby, shortly before his death, approached his pastor in Lekki, Lagos, informing him to tell his wife to take good care of his children, because what he would do in next few minutes would shock everyone. He was said to have later blown his brains out with a pistol.
The father of a 10-year-old daughter was said to have taken his own life to protect his family’s name.
His late father, Patrick Oguejiofor Nwakoby, was said to be a former chairman of First Bank of Niger Plc. He was also a successful lawyer, politician and a highly respected community leader before his death.
The case is now being handled by homicide detectives attached to Area J Command, Lekki/Ajah.
When the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus, was contacted by New Telegraph, her two lines were switched off.
Olisa hails from Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government of Anambra State and he attended Abia State University, where he bagged a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, in Microbiology between 1990 and 1995.
At this stage, I think it is wrong to blame the bank for his death. Suicide can be triggered by many factors – major or minor
