Tragedy befell a family of five on Thursday morning at Oworonsoko area of Lagos State when they were electrocuted to death by a high tension cable belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN.
The incident, which occurred at 8, Onabanjo Street, Oworonsoki, Lagos, left residents of the area in tears over the death of the five members of the family.
It was learnt that a fully loaded petrol tanker allegedly owned by some illegal bunkers was involved in a head-on-collision with a high tension electric mast in the area, which caused the high tension wire to fall on the ground. It was in the process of running to safety that the five persons were electrocuted to death.
Meanwhile, it is uncertain if the owners of the tankers have been arrested.
