FG Extends Confab By 6 Weeks

The ongoing National Conference in Abuja has been extended by six weeks. The Conference, which was earlier scheduled to end in June, will now come to an end in July.

The shift in date was approved by the Federal Government and no reason has yet been given for the extension.

Initially, the National Conference, also called National Confab, would have been wrapped up on June 19, 2014, but with the new arrangement, it will now conclude on July 31.

Meanwhile, it was not stated whether an additional budgetary allocation would be made available to finance the extension.

Going by the new arrangement, Monday, July 21 to Thursday, 24 July would be set aside to consider the draft report of the Conference, while Monday, July 28 to Thursday, July 31, will be used for the production and signing of the final report.

Before now, some delegates had called for an extension stating that the three months earlier allotted for the programme was not enough.
