Wolves have made their fifth signing of the summer by completing the signing of right-back Nelson Semedo from Barcelona in a deal worth £36.8m, including potential add-ons.
The Premier League club announced on Wednesday that the 26-year-old had signed a three-year deal at Molineux, with an option to extend until 2025.
The Portuguese international joined Barcelona from Benfica in 2017. Having played for three seasons with 126 appearances, Semedo won two La Liga titles and the Cope del Rey with the Catalans.
The right-back is arriving at a time when the Manager Nuno Espirito Santo had been seeking a replacement for Matt Doherty, who moved to Premier League rivals, Tottenham, last month.
“I chose Wolves because it’s a very good team that plays very good football,” Semedo told the club’s website.
“Last year, they did a very good season and it’s a very important team in England, in also Europe. I hope this year we can do very good things.”
He added that: “Coach Nuno is a very good coach. He did very good things here at Wolves and at other teams too. For sure, I’m going to learn a lot from him.”
Semedo will be hoping to make his debut in the Premier League against West Ham on Sunday.
