President Buhari yesterday announced that the government has made funding available for DisCos to immediately roll out 1,000,000 meters to consumers for free.
This according to the president is under the first phase of the presidential mass metering initiative of which deployment had already started in parts of Kano, Kaduna, Lagos and Abuja.
President Bujari disclosed this on his twitter handle, adding that future phases of the metering initiative will help the government fully meet the 6.5 million deficits of meters nationwide and impact on an estimated 39 million consumers.
He further stated that all meters under this initiative will be sourced from local manufacturers and in-country stock to create more jobs.
The president reiterated his government commitment to ending estimated billing in all forms in the country and ensuring that all Nigerians pay only for the electricity consumed.
