Spokesman of the Nigeria Police, Frank Mba, has confirmed 21 persons dead in the bomb blast that happened on Wednesday evening at a very busy shopping mall in Abuja.
Mba also stated that about 17 people were wounded in the explosion, which caused thick smoke in the area where the incident occurred. He hinted that one person has been arrested in connection with the attack.
The Emab Plaza in Wuse II in Abuja was bombed on Wednesday around 4pm. It was said that the explosion came from a bomb-laden vehicle, which found its way through the gate of the shopping plaza, before going off, killing customers of the mall.
Victims were rushed to the Maitama hospital and the General Hospital at Garki, Abuja.
There are fears that the casualty figure might rise.
The injured persons are currently receiving treatments at the hospital.
