The runway of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, will be closed for two days to enable a maintenance to be carried out on it, a statement by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, on Wednesday has said.
Spokesman of FAAN, Yakubu Dati, explained that the action is in line with International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO, requirements and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, approved Safety and Standard and Recommended Practices, SARPs.
He added that the facility upgrade will take place from “2300 UTC on Saturday, July 5 to 0500 UTC on Monday, July 7, 2014.”
Dati apologised to all intending passengers, airline operators and aviation stakeholders for the inconvenience the closure might cause them.
