The Federal Government and Boko Haram are negotiating the release of more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped over six months ago in Borno State by the group.
The female students were abducted by the insurgents at their dormitories at Government Girls Secondary School, GGSS, Chibok, Borno State on April 14, 2014. They were seized during their final school examination.
The FG is said to be in talks with the terrorists group in Saudi Arabia for a cease-fire and the safe release of the kidnapped girls.
An acclaimed scribe of Boko Haram, Danladi Ahmadu, told VOA on Thursday that the girls are in good condition and that the government is speaking with the group. He said top officials from Cameroon and Chad are also in Saudi Arabia over the matter.
Earlier in the week, a protest was held in Abuja over the abduction of the schoolgirls. They had requested to see President Gooduck Jonathan, but he did not show up to them. The protesters have accused the government for being too slow in securing the release of the students.
