Five members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday evening, drowned at a river in Bayelsa State. It was reported that seven other members of the party were rescued from the same boat.
The party members were coming from a ward congress held in the state when the unfortunate incident occurred. Among the survivors was a former deputy governor of the state, Peremobowei Ebebi. Local divers quickly entered into the water to save the drowning persons when the boat capsized.
