47 Die In Yobe Secondary School Blast, Scores Injured

A blast that occurred in a secondary school in Potiskum, Yobe State, on Monday morning has killed no fewer than 47 lives. It was gathered that the bomb went off during the school’s assembly at about 7:50am. The incident has now left pandemonium in the city.

AFP reports that a suicide bomber, who disguised in a school uniform, caused the explosion. Blood freely flowed in the school premises after the explosion.

Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, who confirmed the blast to AFP, was quoted to have said, “We have 47 dead and 79 injured.”

One of the school’s teachers also told the news platform that, “The students had gathered for the morning assembly when something exploded in their midst with a thunderous sound at exactly 7:50 am local time.”

It is not yet certain if the Boko Haram group carried out this latest attack.

Few weeks ago, the Federal Government claimed it agreed a ceasefire deal with the terrorists’ group, but the acclaimed leader of the Islamic sect, Abubakar Shekau, in a video released days after, denied the truce and said the Nigerian government may have been fooled by an impostor.
