Ekiti Gets New Speaker

The drama and intrigues in Ekiti State took a new twist on Thursday when a new Speaker emerged for the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

A member of the Assembly from Ikole local council area of the state, Joseph Dele Olugbemi was announced the new Speaker of the Assembly.

Olugbemi is reportedly one of the decampees from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.

Also, Abeni Olayinka was elected as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

Both have been sworn-in already and have taken charge of the Assembly.

Meanwhile, the embattled Speaker of the Assembly, Wale Omirin and some of his colleagues are in Lagos.

It was rumoured earlier today that they planned to impeach the state governor, Ayo Fayose.

The Speaker and some lawmakers of APC have been at loggerheads with the state government since he was sworn-in some weeks ago.
