The Commandant General of the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps, NCDSC, Ade Abolurin, is currently battling with an alleged ritual scandal that may eventually destroy the good and enviable works he has done since he was appointed the boss of the security agency.

The respected Civil Defence officers was said to have been involved in a fetish practice in a bid to seek President Goodluck Jonathan’s favour to extend his stay in office after his tenure expires later in 2015.

Pointblanknews reported that Abolurin landed in the hospital after the ritual session turned awry, with the NSCDC boss suffering serious burns in his body.

The online news platform reports that Abolurin was asked to cream himself with a particular lotion they claimed would make the Presidency forget his retirement date. The security chief was asked to thereafter stay close to a fire source for some time to heighten the potency of the portion.

“Oga (Abolurin) locked himself up in a kitchen. We don’t know what happened, but we heard the juju portion he rubbed on his body caught fire. But for God, he would have burnt to death,” a source was quoted by Pointblanknews to have said.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that Abolurin was first rushed to Garki General hospital before being transferred to the State House Clinic.

Abolurin was appointed in July 2005, and was reappointed for a second term in 2010. The second leg of his 10-year tenure is expected to end in July 2015.

His last public outing was in August 2014, when he had a near shoot-out with some policemen in Lagos over the controversial arrest of some suspected pipeline vandals.

When the Commandant-General’s absence began to raise eyebrows, NSCDC management penned a statement that he was on medical leave on account of injuries sustained in a “domestic accident.’

The statement however failed to give details on how the security chief sustained the “domestic accident”.

After several weeks of concerted efforts to get the Commandant-General, Pointblanknews.com finally got to speak with him.

He, however, pleaded that details of the accident be allowed to remain in the past.

He pleaded, “My brother, what is important now is that I am alive. I was involved in a domestic accident, but glory be to God, I am alive and able to speak with you.

“It feels so good to be alive. The dead cannot talk. Very soon, by God’s grace, I will be back in office to continue to discharge my duty to Nigerians,” he promised.

Pressed to disclose what cause the accident, the security chief said he was so traumatized by the events and would not want to comment on it.

“Like I said, we don’t stand to gain anything from what happened in the past. Just take it that your brother survived a fire accident that would have killed him. It is better to leave the past in the past,” he stressed.

An Apostle in one of the white garment churches, Abolurin had managed to cut the image of a devout Christian with impeccable moral credentials.

In the thick of last year’s strike by university lecturers, the security chief directed men and officers of NSCDC to embark on seven days of fasting and prayers to end the strike.

“We should not be ignorant of the devices of the devil whose mission is to steal, kill and destroy, but through prayer and fasting, the glory of this nation should be sustained and the much needed success achieved,” the civil defence boss said in a statement by spokesman Emmanuel Okeh.

Abolurin once disclosed how he turned down a N10 million offer to bribe him into awarding contracts for the supply of laptops for the organization.

He however failed to disclose the name(s) of the persons or the firm that approached him with the offer, and if he reported the matter to the relevant anti-graft agencies.
