While some Nigerians alleged that Buhari was visiting the country for a medical check up, others claimed he travelled to prepare for the inauguration slated for next Friday, May 29, 2015.

Addressing the issue on Friday evening in Abuja via a statement, Shehu stressed that the President-elect was in Britain on a private visit.

He however noted that Buhari is “expected back in the country a few days before the inauguration, refreshed and ready to hit the ground running once he is sworn into office.”

This is the first trip Buhari is making to the UK since emerging winner of the March 28, 2015 presidential poll. Shortly before the election, he travelled to London, which was also not without controversies.
