As part of its resolve to ensure owners of small businesses in Nigeria get the necessary support, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has thrown its full weight behind the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, SMEDAN.
The bank described Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, SMEs, in the country as the drivers of national development and economic growth.
Union Bank recently organised market access conferences for SMEs in 10 cities around Nigeria, which is focused on providing training support and exposing SME owners to various financial industry products and schemes that would aid business growth.
Already, the conference has taken place in seven cities and participants were exposed to various skills, products and services that would facilitate the growth of their businesses.
According to the Head of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications of Union Bank, Ogochukwu Ekezie-Ekaidem, “Union Bank is committed to supporting the growth of SMEs in the Nigeria because we recognize their value and contribution to Nigeria’s overall economic growth.”
He stressed that, “This partnership with SMEDAN is an opportunity to impact these businesses directly and proffer solutions to their everyday challenges.”
The next three editions will take place in Asaba on August 25, in Calabar on August 27, and in Kano September 17, 2015.
