Real Madrid player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been announced as the 2013 winner of the prestigious FIFA Ballon D’or award. The former Manchester United footballer was named as the world’s best player at a ceremony held on Monday.
Ronaldo could not hold back tears as he gave his acceptance speech. He thanked his teams (Real Madrid and the Portuguese National team), family and everyone that supported his career so far.
He beat Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich’s Frank Ribery to grab the award for the second time.
He first won it with Manchester United in 2008 after the club won the UEFA Champions League beating Chelsea at the finals in Russia.
