Members of the Council of Academic Staff Unions of Osun State Owned Tertiary Institutions, on Monday, staged a peaceful protest at the Osun State House of Assembly over the non-payment of their salaries for eight months.
The frustrated dons, armed with placards with various inscriptions, urged the lawmakers to compel the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, to pay their salaries.
Some days ago, Aregbesola declared his intention to pay workers in the state before the Salah celebration next week.
For about three months now, the lecturers had been on strike.
The angry lecturers were led on Monday to the Assembly by Chairman of the association, Lasisi Jimoh; Secretary Olusegun Lana and Public Relations Officer, Dotun Omisore. They rejected plan by the state government to pay half of their salaries, insisting on full payment.
They expressed shock at the government decision despite getting a bailout from the Federal Government to pay workers.
