The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary election in Bayelsa State held on Tuesday has been cancelled.
This was made known on Wednesday by National Chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
Oyegun explained that the party’s primary for December 5, 2015 governorship election in Bayelsa was rescheduled due to security challenges. “The primary has been rescheduled; it had to be called off due to security challenges,” the party Chairman told NAN in Abuja.
A former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, was earlier announced winner of the exercise, beating his closest rival, Timi Alaibe.
During the process on Tuesday at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Chairman of the Primaries Committee, Adams Oshiomhole, was reportedly smuggled out of the venue when some youths wanted to attack him.
