PDP Suspends Edo Congress

The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has postponed the state congress in Edo State.

The party, in a press statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, announced this development, adding that a new date for the exercise would be announced later.

The NWC of the party, which met to look into the report of its Post-Election Review Committee and the general state of the party, resolved to work on the recommendations made in the report.

It commended the Senator Ike Ekweremadu-led PDP Post-Election Review Committee for the successful review of the performance of the party in the 2015 general elections and promised to work towards rebuilding of the party to regain its preeminent position in national politics.

According to the statement issued by Olisa Metuh, the party’s National Secretary, the NWC agreed to present the report to the National Caucus of the party on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 to kick-start onward consideration thereof.

“The NWC affirms that the rebuilding process, which began with the inauguration of the Senator Ekweremadu-led Committee, is very much on course and urges all party members to remain committed to the course of returning the party to power at the centre in 2019,” the statement said.
